Event details
The North East Triathlon takes place on August 23, 2026 in North East, Maryland (203 W Walnut Street, 21901). Events include individual Olympic and Sprint triathlons, Olympic and Sprint aquabikes, and Olympic and Sprint relays. All events are open to ages 12 and older. The race is sanctioned by USA Triathlon.
Distances:
- Olympic: 1.5k swim, 22.8 mile bike, 10k run
- Olympic Aquabike: 1.5k swim, 22.8 mile bike
- Sprint: 750m swim, 11.4 mile bike, 5k run
- Sprint Aquabike: 750m swim, 11.4 mile bike
The time trial swim start sends two athletes at a time every few seconds. An Elite Box Start is used to place top contenders at the front of the swim start.
Course and logistics
The swim is a Chesapeake Bay time trial swim near town. The bike uses well-paved country roads along Elk Neck State Forest and is described as low traffic, hilly, and technical in places with several straightaways. The run is a lightly rolling out-and-back on the road shoulder heading south of town. Race amenities listed include a finisher medal, shirt, socks, and race photos.
