About the race
The Lums Pond Triathlon, held at Lums Pond State Park in Bear, Delaware, is a USA Triathlon-sanctioned event featuring both Sprint and Olympic distance races. The Olympic course includes a 1.5k swim, 23-mile bike, and 10k run, while the Sprint consists of a 750m swim, 10-mile bike, and 5k run. The swim takes place in freshwater with a rectangular course near the shore.
The bike route is flat, fast, and features all right-hand turns on smooth pavement around the park. The run course offers scenic, forested trails with lake views and gravel paths. This event serves as the Delaware State Championships and a qualifier for the Toyota Age Group National Championships, welcoming athletes of all levels.
