Event Overview
The Summer Sizzle Adventure Race - Saturday takes place at Lake Anna State Park in Spotsylvania Courthouse, Virginia. This outdoor event is part of a weekend series featuring multi-sport navigation challenges. Participants use a map and compass to locate checkpoints across various terrains, finishing the course at a beachside location.
Sports and Format
The race is structured as a 5-hour adventure competition. Unlike standard road races with marked paths, this event requires orienteering through different modes of travel. The primary disciplines include biking, paddling, and trekking on foot. For those who prefer to stay off the trails, a specific "no-biking" category is available. The event is USARA-sanctioned and counts toward national ranking points as well as the Virginia State Parks Adventure Series.
Participation Options
The event offers several categories based on group size and equipment preferences:
- Soloist
- Team (2, 3, or 4 persons)
- Family Division
- No-biking Soloist
- No-biking Team
