Event overview
The Summer Sizzle Adventure Race is a weekend of adventure racing held in Spotsylvania Courthouse, VA (6800 Lawyers Rd) near Lake Anna State Park. The weekend includes a Saturday race (June 13, 2026) and a Sunday race (June 14, 2026). Each day is a 5-hour adventure race. Registration options include solo and team entries, plus "no-biking" versions of the events.
Both races are USARA-sanctioned and will score points for the Virginia State Parks Adventure Series. The event offers divisions for soloists, 2/3/4-person teams and a Family Division (noted as a 4-hour race only). A weekend bundle is available that covers both days with the second race at 50% off.
Format, entry and inclusions
Adventure Racing here combines orienteering with multiple modes of travel: running, biking and paddling. Competitors receive topographic maps and must navigate to marked checkpoints; scoring is by number of checkpoints found within the time limit, with fastest time as the tie-breaker. The organizer provides kayaks or canoes, paddles and lifejackets (PFDs).
Standard registration fees listed are $90 per event and a weekend bundle at $135; fees increase after December 31, 2025. Registration includes a race shirt (register before April 1 to guarantee shirt), race photos, a post-race meal, and custom awards for top three in each division. Parking, permits, insurance and rentals are covered by registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
