Overview
The RVA Sprint takes place in Rockville, VA on August 23, 2026. It is a pool-based sprint triathlon hosted by the Rockville Center and organized by the Live Red Foundation, a 501(c)(3). The event includes options for triathlon, duathlon, aquabike, a relay, a beginner-only short race for first-time triathletes, and a kids splash & dash. Registration opens November 8, 2025 at 12:00pm EST.
Race format and categories

- 300 yd swim - 20 km bike - 5 km run (Sprint Triathlon)
- 0.75 mi run - 20 km bike - 5 km run (Sprint Duathlon)
- 100 yd swim - 1 mi run (Kid's Splash & Dash)
The sprint category is open to ages 13 and older. The beginner-only category is open to first-time triathletes ages 13 and older. The kids event is open to ages 15 and under. The course description notes a pool swim, a rolling rural bike course, and an out-and-back run course. The race will use a seeded start in which the top 12 seeded women start approximately 7 minutes ahead of the top 12 seeded men. Every finisher receives a finisher's medal. Awards are given to the top three male and female overall in triathlon, duathlon, and aquabike, plus age-group awards for the triathlon and splash & dash. Prices listed vary by event.
