Event Overview
The Robious Landing Triathlon takes place at Robious Landing Park in Midlothian, Virginia. This multi-sport event features a variety of races including triathlons, duathlons, and aquabike competitions. The courses utilize the James River for swimming segments, followed by cycling and running routes within the park and surrounding areas.
The event structure includes three primary categories: adult sprint races, youth competitions, and an NCAA Draft-Legal Collegiate Cup. All finishers receive a medal, and awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in various categories, including age groups and Athena or Clydesdale divisions.
Distances and Events
The following race options are available:
- Adult Sprint Triathlon: 650m swim, 12-mile bike, 5k run
- Adult Sprint Duathlon: 1-mile run, 12-mile bike, 5k run
- Adult Sprint Aquabike: 650m swim, 12-mile bike
- Youth Triathlon: 50m swim, 2.8-mile bike, 0.75-mile run
- Youth Duathlon: 0.25-mile run, 2.8-mile bike, 0.75-mile run
- Youth Aquabike: 50m swim, 2.8-mile bike
- Women's NCAA Draft-Legal: 750m swim, 20k bike, 5k run
The Adult Sprint course features a downriver swim and a bike course described as primarily flat. The youth events are held on closed roads and are part of the USAT VA-MD Youth Series. The NCAA Collegiate Cup is a draft-legal event for women where specific equipment rules apply and wetsuits are prohibited if the water temperature reaches 68 degrees Fahrenheit or higher.
