Jen McKenna Paddle and Run

Event overview

The Jen McKenna Paddle and Run 6.0 is a paddle-and-run charity event held at Higgens Point, Coeur D Alene, ID on Saturday, September 12, 2026. The event combines kayaking or stand-up paddle boarding and running. Registration opens April 1. The 2026 edition includes a new long-course route.

Race formats and distances

• Short course paddle: 1.6 miles; run: 4 miles.
• Long course total distance: approximately 10 miles (paddle-run-paddle-run format).
  The short course starts near the Higgens Point boat launch and uses the Centennial Trail for the run portion. The long course paddles into Blue Creek Bay and uses the Blue Creek Trail system plus segments of the Centennial Trail. Both short and long options are offered as individual or team races. Short course teams use two people (one paddler, one runner). Long course teams may include two or three people (one paddler and one or two runners), with the paddler covering the water segments between runners.

Awards and charity

Awards are given to the top three men and top three women for each course and to the top team for each course. Participants are offered post-race food and beverages. Proceeds from the event benefit Companions Animal Shelter. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
