Event Overview
The Bayshore 70.4 and Sprint Triathlon takes place in Long Beach, California. The event is designed as an early season training race and offers multiple individual and relay distances. The transition area is located at the intersection of Bayshore and Ocean Blvd.
Available distances include:
- Bayshore 70.4: Features a 1.2-mile (2200 yards) swim, a 56-mile bike, and a 13.1-mile run.
- Bayshore Sprint: Consists of a 500-yard bay swim, a 9-mile bike, and a 4-mile run.
The bike course for the 70.4-mile event is not a closed course. It includes stoplights and utilizes a bike path that remains open to the general public. Participants are expected to follow traffic signals. The sprint course features a bay swim in calm waters followed by a bike and run on paths along the ocean.
Support and Logistics
One aid station is positioned on the bike course for the long distance race at the 28-mile mark. Participants may drop off special nutrition bags at packet pickup to be transported to this location. Run aid stations are spaced approximately every 1 to 1.5 miles. Available supplies at stations include water, electrolyte drinks, energy gels, bananas, pretzels, and gummy bears.
Registration includes a race shirt, chip timing with live results, a finisher medal, and post-race food. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers in the long course and sprint distances. Free street parking and hourly paid lots are available near the event site.
