The swim takes place in the Tennessee River with a short loop returning to the swim finish. The bike courses run along Riverside Drive into East Knoxville with rolling terrain. The run follows the greenway and river, passing the Star of Knoxville riverboat launch, Volunteer Landing and the marina, and returns to Riverside Park for the finish.

Race categories include individual entries, Athena (165+ female weight class), Clydesdale (220+ male weight class), and team relays. Parking is planned at Ned McWherter Park under the bridge with an adjacent overflow lot. Course routes are under review and may change as required by city or county officials.
