Event Overview
The Knox-Xtreme Adventure Race is an intermediate level multi-sport competition held in Knoxville, Tennessee. Participants navigate through South Knoxville and the Urban Wilderness, utilizing trails in various mountain biking parks. The event focuses on navigation and the collection of checkpoints spread across the course.
Competition Format
Participants are provided with a map and a set of rules to guide them through the environment. The objective is to visit as many checkpoints as possible within a predetermined timeframe. Movement between these points is achieved through a combination of several disciplines:
- Running and hiking
- Mountain biking
- Paddling
Participants can compete as soloists or form teams of two, three, or four people. The winner is determined based on the total number of points accumulated from checkpoints reached during the race.
Available Categories
The event offers two primary durations for competitors:
- KX 8: An 8-hour race with categories for soloists and teams of 2 to 4 members.
- KX 30: A 30-hour endurance race with categories for soloists and teams of 2 to 4 members.
