Thunder in the Valley in Terre Haute, Indiana, is a USAT-certified multi-sport event held at Hawthorn Park, featuring a Sprint Triathlon (500m swim, 20k bike, 5k run) and a Duathlon (1.6k run, 20k bike, 5k run), plus relay formats for two or three-person teams. The course hugs the park grounds, with a lake swim and a fast, scenic bike route followed by a shaded, flat out-and-back run. The 40th anniversary edition includes commemorative medals, custom bibs, swim caps, and a retro participant shirt.
