Thunder in the Valley - Overview
Thunder in the Valley is a multisport event in Terre Haute, IN scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 2026. The race offers multiple event types: Sprint Triathlon, Duathlon, triathlon relay teams, and duathlon relay teams. Location and logistics
The event takes place at Hawthorn Park, 6067 E Old Maple Ave, Terre Haute, IN 47803. The swim uses an out-and-back layout in Hawthorn Lake. The bike returns athletes to the transition area after the loop, and the run is a shaded, flat out-and-back 5k course. Wetsuit rules follow USAT guidelines based on water temperature, with eligibility for awards and ranking points affected when water is above certain thresholds. Packet pickup requires presentation of USAT membership ID and personal ID; timing chips are collected at the Dogwood Shelter on race morning. Awards and post-race refreshments are provided.
