Tarpon Springs Sprint Triathlon/Duathlon/Aquabike/5K : event overview
The event takes place Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Fred Howard Park / Sunset Drive in Tarpon Springs, FL (1700 Sunset Drive). Multiple race formats are offered, including sprint and Olympic triathlon distances, aquabike, duathlon, and a standalone run. Distance formats include:
- Sprint Triathlon: 1/4 mile swim, 10 mile bike, 5K run
- Sprint AquaBike: 1/4 mile swim, 10 mile bike
- Olympic Triathlon: 1/2 mile swim, 20 mile bike, 10K run
- Olympic AquaBike: 1/2 mile swim, 20 mile bike
- Duathlon: 5K run, 10 mile bike, 5K run
- 5K Run: 5K
Course details, logistics and awards
Swims start from Fred Howard Beach. The bike course uses paved, closed roads crossing Fred Howard Causeway and travels into historic Tarpon Springs; the Olympic bike loop is completed twice. Runs take place inside Fred Howard Park. The bike course is staffed by the Tarpon Springs Police Department and race volunteers. Early packet pickup is available at Chainwheel Drive Bike Shop in Palm Harbor and packet pickup is also available at the race start. This is a USAT-sanctioned event; USAT athletes must provide a valid USAT number and card, and non-licensed athletes may purchase a one-day license. Race results are posted with five split times.
All finishers receive a finisher medal. Triathlon awards include overall, masters and age-group prizes (three deep), plus special categories such as Clydesdale, Athena, physically challenged, military/LEO/PSO, Novice (Sprint), Fat Tire, and relay teams.
