Course Details

The race start is at the transition area by a baseball field at the west end of Father Capodanno Blvd. The swim start is 0.25 miles east of the transition area. The bike course takes place on the closed-off Father Capodanno Blvd, described as flat with no significant elevation gain. The run segment occurs on the Franklin D. Roosevelt Boardwalk. A safety team including lifeguards and NYPD Water Patrol will be on duty for the swim. Wetsuits are optional.

Event Background

The race is held as a memorial to honor Rocco Laurie, a Vietnam veteran and NYPD officer who died in 1972. The idea originated from Larry Ambrosino of the Rocco Laurie Scholarship Fund. The event is not USAT certified or sanctioned, so a USAT racing license is not required. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
