Long Beach Biathlon

The Long Beach Biathlon returns for its 46th year on July 18, 2026, in Long Beach, New York. This multi-sport event takes place at Riverside Blvd. and features races designed for different age groups. The competition proceeds rain or shine, and participants have the opportunity to receive a T-shirt and access to finish line photos.

The event includes three distinct distances:

  • Adult Race: A 3 mile boardwalk run followed by a 300 yard ocean swim.
  • Teen Race: A 1 mile beach run followed by a 150 yard ocean swim.
  • Children's Race: A 1/2 mile beach run followed by a 50 yard shallow swim.

The adult course begins on the boardwalk between Monroe and Long Beach boulevards. Participants run west to New York Avenue before turning east toward Riverside Blvd. The route then transitions from the boardwalk down a sand hill to the beach area for the swimming segment. While the adult running portion is held on the boardwalk, the youth and teen runs take place directly on the shore.

The transition area is located on the beach to connect the run and swim portions. Awards are provided for the top five male and female finishers in the adult categories, while all participants in the teen and children’s races receive awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
