Island Lake Triathlon, Duathlon, and Aquabike
The Island Lake Triathlon occurs at the Island Lake State Recreation Area in Brighton, Michigan. The venue is a 4,000-acre park in Livingston County characterized by a mix of open brush land, mature hardwood forests, and open meadows. The courses utilize the clear waters of Kent Lake for swimming and the park’s paved roads, which feature rolling hills and tree-lined stretches, for the cycling and running portions.
This multisport event is a USA Triathlon Official Sanctioned Event and adheres to a Zero Waste Policy. As a Leave No Trace event, the organizers implement recycling and composting efforts throughout the day. Participants can choose from several multisport formats or timed open water swim practices.
The available distances and event formats include:
- Olympic Triathlon: 1500m swim, 40k bike, and 10k run
- Sprint Triathlon: 800m swim, 12-mile bike, and 3.1-mile run
