Iron Eagle Paddle & Run
The Iron Eagle Paddle & Run is an adventure race held in Indianapolis at Eagle Creek Park. This outdoor event combines trail running and paddling in a run-paddle-run format. The course takes participants through wooded trails and across the open water of the Eagle Creek reservoir.
The race consists of three distinct stages:
- 2.6-mile trail run
- 1.5-mile paddle on the reservoir
- 2.6-mile trail run to the finish line
The event is open to individuals and teams of all ages and ability levels. Participants can choose to compete as individuals, where one person completes all three stages, or form 2-person and 3-person relay teams. In the 2-person team category, both members complete all stages together, while relay categories allow different participants to handle specific legs of the race.
The race starts and finishes at the Eagle Creek Park swimming beach. Watercraft rentals, including kayaks and canoes, are available through Eagle Creek Outfitters, though participants may also bring their own equipment. All finishers receive a medal and a t-shirt, and the event concludes with a post-race party at the beach. Proceeds from the registration fees support the Eagle Creek Park trail maintenance fund, which is used for the preservation and improvement of the park's trail system.
