Humans of Steel: Harris Lake Olympic Triathlon
The Humans of Steel: Harris Lake Sprint & Olympic Triathlon is a unique multisport event held at Harris Lake County Park in New Hill, North Carolina. Featuring a "reverse" format, participants run first on shaded single-track and gravel trails (5k sprint or 10k Olympic), then bike moderately rolling roads through Holly Springs (12.5 miles sprint, ~20 miles Olympic), and finish with an open water swim in Harris Lake (750m sprint, 1500m Olympic). The event is beginner-friendly, USAT sanctioned, and includes aquabike and relay options, plus a kids' 50-yard dash.
The race fosters a fun, family atmosphere with music, snacks, and a focus on sustainability by encouraging participants to bring their own water bottles and haul out trash. Proceeds benefit Girls on the Run of the Triangle. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
