Event Overview
The Hilton Head Beach Bum Triathlon & Duathlon takes place on June 20, 2026, at Coligny Beach on Hilton Head Island. This marks the event's 24th year. The event benefits the Bluffton Paddle Club.
Event Format
Participants can choose from three event formats.
- Triathlon - Individual: A 500m ocean swim, a 6-mile beach bike, and a 3-mile beach run.
- Triathlon - Team Relay: A team version of the same triathlon distances.
- Duathlon - Individual: A 1.5-mile beach run, a 6-mile beach bike, and a 3-mile beach run.
The swim, bike, and run segments are all conducted on Coligny Beach. The swim course is parallel to the shore with three buoys. The bike course involves two turnarounds on the hard-packed sand. The transition area is located on the beach.
Participant Information
Packet pickup occurs the day before the event and on race morning. The event offers custom race shirts. Awards are given for top finishers in various age categories and for relay teams. Rental bikes are available during registration, with delivery and pickup on race morning.
The event has an inclement weather policy where the start may be postponed or the event canceled if safety is a concern. Swimmers must be at least 15 years old on race day to participate.
