Overview
The Fall Foliage Adventure Race takes place on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 2205 Jamestown Rd., Williamsburg, VA 23185. Events combine paddling, biking and trekking with navigation using map and compass. The race is USARA-sanctioned and uses marked checkpoints (CPs) that teams or solo competitors must find within a time limit.
Events and entry
The event program includes four entries: 5-hour Soloist, 5-hour Team, 24-hour Soloist, and 24-hour Team. Listed entry fees are $90 for 5-hour Soloist and 5-hour Team (reduced youth fee shown for some ages), and $285 for 24-hour Soloist and 24-hour Team (reduced youth fee shown for some ages). Age eligibility ranges in the event listings from young youth to 99; some events specify minimum ages (for example 5-hour Soloist opens at age 14, 24-hour Soloist opens at age 15). Organizer notes indicate scheduled price increases later in 2026.
Race format and course
The race follows adventure-racing/orienteering format: participants receive a map with marked checkpoints and decide their own routes. Scoring rewards teams that collect the most checkpoints, with fastest time used as a tie-breaker. The 5-hour course includes biking, canoe/kayak paddling and trekking with primarily gravel and paved bike surfaces. The 24-hour course covers multiple parks and conservancies, runs into night and morning hours, and includes extended paddling, trekking and biking across historical sites. Spectators may watch, picnic or take photos but are not allowed to assist participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
