Entering its 16th year, the Eagle in the Sun Triathlon is a multisport event located in El Paso, Texas. The race features a variety of categories to accommodate different athletic preferences, including solo competitions and relay formats. Participants can choose from the following events:
- Individual Sprint: 400m swim, 12-mile bike, and 3-mile run

- Bike-Run: 12-mile bike and 3-mile run
- 5k Run/Walk: 3-mile course

The triathlon begins with a 400-meter swim in a 50-meter pool. Following the swim, the cycling portion consists of a mostly flat 12-mile out-and-back course on the Border Highway. The final leg is a 5K run on the Playa Drain Trail.
The event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon (USAT), and all participants must hold a USAT membership or purchase a one-day permit. Minimum age requirements apply, with athletes needing to be at least 12 years old for the full individual triathlon or aquabike. Younger participants may join relay teams as swimmers or runners. Additionally, the event offers specialized divisions for Clydesdale and Athena athletes based on weight categories. Finisher medals are provided to all participants who complete their respective courses. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
