Course

The Badin Lake Triathlon is a sprint triathlon. The course includes a 750-yard open water swim in Badin Lake, a 13-mile bike ride on rolling country roads in Stanly County, and a 5K run through historic Badin, North Carolina.

Event Categories

Participants can enter as individuals or as part of a relay team.

The individual categories are Age Group, Athena (for women weighing 160 pounds or more), and Clydesdale (for men weighing 220 pounds or more).

The Relay Team Challenge features All Male, All Female, and Coed team categories. Teams consist of three people, with one swimmer, one cyclist, and one runner. Two-person teams are also allowed, with one member completing two of the legs.

Additional Information

Since 2019, the event has been part of the Trivium Multisport Series, offering participants a chance to win a series prize at the end of the year.

Awards are given for Overall, Age Group, Athena, Clydesdale, and Team Category winners.

The event raises funds for the YMCA Strong Communities Fund and the "Send a Kid to Camp" campaign. Participants can choose to fundraise, and those who raise a minimum of $150 can have their registration fee waived.
