Austin CapTex Triathlon
The Austin CapTex Triathlon is a multi-sport event held annually during Memorial Day Weekend in Austin, Texas. The event features a course that moves through the city center, utilizing several prominent local landmarks. The competition begins with a swim stage in Lady Bird Lake, followed by a cycling portion that takes participants through downtown Austin with the Texas Capitol in view. The final segment is a run through Butler Park, culminating at a finish line located at Auditorium Shores.
Participants can choose from three distinct distances, available for individuals or as relay teams:
- SuperSprint: 400m swim, 10km bike, and 2.5km run.
- Sprint: 750m swim, 19.8km bike, and 5km run.
- Olympic: 1500m swim, 39km bike, and 10km run.
The event is open to athletes aged 14 and older. Individual age group categories range from 19 and under up to 85 plus. A paratriathlon division is available specifically for the Sprint distance. All registered participants receive a t-shirt, timing services, and a finisher medal. Following the race, the event hosts a festival at Auditorium Shores featuring food, beverages, and music for both athletes and spectators.
