Event Overview
The Wellfleet Sprint Triathlon is an endurance event held in Outer Cape Cod, near a small fishing and tourism village. The race serves as the primary fundraiser for WOMR, a non-profit community radio station serving the local area. The competition is a 2026 USA Triathlon State Championships Ranking Point Event, allowing residents of Massachusetts to earn points toward season rankings.
The event features three distinct disciplines:
- 1/4 Mile Swim
- 10 Mile Bike
- 5k Run
Course and Location
The competition takes place at Long Pond in Wellfleet. The swim portion is held in the calm waters of a kettle pond. The bike segment follows undulating roads located within the Cape Cod National Seashore. The final run offers participants views of the Atlantic Ocean. Due to the location, there is no parking at the race venue on the day of the event; participants and spectators must park at the First Congregational Church and travel to the start/finish line by bicycle or on foot.
Race Details
This is a USAT-sanctioned event, and all participants must hold either an annual or one-day USA Triathlon membership. Registration is open to individuals and relay teams of two or three people, with categories for male, female, and mixed groups. The event does not permit the use of e-bikes. Awards are presented to the top three competitors in various age groups and categories, including first-timers and relay teams. A virtual participation option is also available for those unable to attend the in-person race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
