Event overview
The Wellfleet Sprint Triathlon takes place on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Long Pond in Wellfleet, Massachusetts. The race format includes individual, relay team and a virtual "Tri It Your Way" option. Distances for the in-person course are:
- 1/4-mile swim
- 10-mile bike
- 3-mile run
The swim is held in a kettle pond. The paved bike and run course passes through a natural pine forest and is closed to vehicular traffic. The run route passes the Beachcomber restaurant. The event benefits community organizations including WOMR 92.1FM and Outer Cape Health.
Logistics and rules
This is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event; USAT rules apply and results count toward national and regional rankings. All participants must show photo ID and proof of USAT membership or purchase the required one-day license. Relay teams may be two- or three-person and can be male, female or mixed. Awards are presented to the top three in each age group (male, female and non-binary), plus categories for first-timers and relay teams.
Registration, parking and other notes
Registration opens January 1. The event has sold out months in advance in past years and there will not be a wait list. There is no parking at the race venue on race day; participants and spectators must park at Wellfleet’s First Congregational Church and walk or bicycle to Long Pond.
