Tri Community Triathlon
The Tri Community Tri is a multi-distance triathlon event held in the town of Pima, located in Southeastern Arizona. This rural community of approximately 3,000 residents provides a setting with minimal vehicle traffic for participants. The swim portions of the events are conducted as lap swims in the public pool situated near the town center.
Participants can choose from several event formats:
- Sprint Triathlon: A 425 yard swim, a 15 mile bike ride with rolling hills, and a 5k run.
- Relay Sprint Triathlon: The sprint distance completed by teams of at least two members.
- Super Sprint Triathlon: A 125 yard swim, a 7 mile bike ride, and a 1.5 mile run.
- Kids Triathlon: A 75 yard swim, a 1.2 mile bike ride, and a 0.5 mile run.
The cycling routes head out of town into areas where wildlife may be present, while the running courses meander through local neighborhoods. Awards include medals for the overall male and female winners in the sprint and super sprint categories, as well as the top three finishers in five-year age brackets. The kids triathlon, designed for those under 15 years of age, also awards medals to the top three finishers in five-year age brackets and overall winners.
This event is organized entirely by volunteers and operates as a recognized non-profit. All proceeds are used to fund future races or are donated back to the local community. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
