Event Overview
The Spring Sprint Triathlon is a multi-sport festival held at Mission Bay in San Diego. The event features a variety of race formats including triathlons, duathlons, aquabikes, and aquathlons. The courses are designed to be spectator-friendly, featuring a swim in calm bay waters, a mostly flat bike course with curly cue ramps, and a flat run held on paved paths and trails next to SeaWorld.
Race Categories
Participants can choose from several distances and formats:
- International Triathlon: 1K swim, 31K bike, and 10K run.
- Sprint Triathlon: 1/4 mile swim, 10 mile bike, and 5K run.
- Sprint Duathlon: 1 mile run, 10 mile bike, and 5K run.
- Sprint Aquabike: 1/4 mile swim and 10 mile bike.
- Sprint Aquathlon: 1/4 mile swim and 5K run.
- 5K Run/Walk: 3.1 mile course for runners or walkers.
There are also dedicated events for younger athletes, including the Mini Sprint Triathlon (200 yard swim, 6 mile bike, 1.5 mile run) and the Itsy Bitsy Triathlon (100 yard swim, 3 mile bike, 3/4 mile run). Relay team options are available for the Sprint Triathlon distance.
Features and Series
The event is part of the San Diego Triathlon Series. Participants who complete this race along with the CVC Triathlon and the Mission Bay Triathlon qualify for the Triple Crown of Triathlon award. All finishers receive a custom medal and a tech T-shirt. Amenities at the finish line include snacks and a beer garden.
