Event Overview
The Smiley Sprint Triathlon takes place in Clemmons, North Carolina, starting at the Clemmons West Pool. This non-profit event is organized by a team of experienced triathletes and supports local charities, including brain cancer initiatives. The race honors the memory of Richard Smiley and aims to promote fitness and community engagement.
The triathlon consists of three consecutive segments:

- 5K run
Participation Categories
The event offers several registration categories to accommodate different types of athletes:

Participants are organized into three starting waves based on their registration date. Those who register by June 30 are placed in Wave 1 and receive personalized race numbers. Participants registering between July 1 and July 22 are placed in Wave 2, while those registering from July 23 through race day are placed in Wave 3.
Athlete Services and Amenities
The event provides several resources for participants, specifically for those new to the sport. A concierge team is available on race day to assist athletes. Additional offerings include a transition clinic during packet pickup and a championship reception for all finishers.
Participants receive a custom race shirt and a medal. The post-race area features a red carpet finish, live music, and food and beverage services. Professional race photography and massage services are also provided to athletes after they complete the course. A fun run for children is held in conjunction with the main event.
