Event Overview

The Righteous Richland Sprint Triathlon takes place in July. It is a multisport event with a course covering a 0.5 mile swim, a 12 mile mountain bike ride, and a 3 mile run. The event is held at Howard Amon Park in Richland, Washington.

Course Details

The race begins with a swim in the Columbia River along the park. The bike leg is a route on roads, bike paths, and includes off-road and single track riding in the Chamna Nature Preserve. The run follows footpaths heading south from the park and finishes back in the park. Mountain bikes are required for the main event, with specific tire specifications provided. A separate Gravel Bike division is offered, where awards are given to the top three overall men and women.

Participation and Fees

There is an individual race and relay team categories: Open Relay, Coed Relay, and Women's Relay. The standard registration fee is $45, increasing to $60 after June 29, 2026. A $3 discount is available for 3RRR club members registering by that date. All participants must have a USA Triathlon (USAT) license, with a one-day license available for purchase. Registration is online only, with no race day registration. The event has a limit of 300 individuals and 25 teams.

Additional Information

All finishers receive a medal. Awards, in the form of race glasses, are given to the top three overall men and women and to age group winners. Timing chips are used, with results posted online. Packet pickup is available the day before the race at the Ice Harbor Brewing Company in Kennewick. Pre-registration by June 29 is recommended for participants wanting a sleeveless t-shirt, available for an extra fee. Age categories range from 13-19 up to 76-80.
