Pace and Pedal Event
The Pace and Pedal event in Black River Falls offers a variety of run, walk, and bike activities centered around Lake Wazee. The event serves as a fundraiser for Jackson In Action, focusing on healthy living initiatives within the community. Participants can choose from a duathlon, a color fun run, or a dedicated youth race.
The Pace and Pedal Duathlon consists of a 4.7-mile run on non-paved trails followed by a 10.5-mile bike course on paved roads. This race is open to individual participants or two-person teams. Safety regulations require all cyclists to wear a bike helmet and refrain from using earbuds or listening to music during the biking portion. All finishers receive a medal and a swag item, with specific prizes awarded to top finishers in adult and youth categories.
For those interested in a shorter distance, the 5K Color Fun Run/Walk takes place on a fully-paved, stroller-friendly course. Participants encounter color stations where they are sprinkled with powder, though bypassing these stations is an option. This is a self-timed event without formal awards.
The event also includes the Pace and Pedal Youth Color Run, which features:
- A 1.0-mile paved course.
- Open to participants aged 12 and under.
- Finisher's medal and sunglasses included with registration.
All events take place rain or shine at Lake Wazee. Registration includes the option to purchase a commemorative t-shirt if completed by the specified April deadline. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
