Event Overview
The ÖTILLÖ Austin event takes place in Pace Bend Park, located in western Travis County within the Texas Hill Country. The venue is characterized by limestone cliffs, rocky coves, and deep-water canyons along the Colorado River and Lake Travis. Participants navigate a course consisting of single-track forest trails and shoreline rock formations.
Participants can choose from three distinct race distances, available for both solo athletes and teams of two:
- Austin Experience: Total distance of 9,895 m (1,765 m swim and 8,130 m run).
- Austin Sprint: Total distance of 15,445 m (3,215 m swim and 12,230 m run) with 131 m elevation.
- Austin World Series: Total distance of 25,095 m (4,820 m swim and 20,275 m run) with 255 m elevation.
Mandatory Requirements
Athletes must provide and carry specific equipment, including a wetsuit, a whistle, and a compression bandage. Solo racers are required to use a Restube flotation device, while teams must carry a tether. The organizer provides swim caps, color-coded bibs, and timing chips. Packet pickup is mandatory and typically occurs the day before the event at the race headquarters in Camp Texlake.
Logistics and Facilities
Race headquarters is situated at Camp Texlake, which offers onsite lodging options including beds in communal rooms and breakfast. The park is approximately one hour by car from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. The course features water stations equipped with water, electrolyte drinks, and gels.
