Course and format
The course combines four sequential disciplines. It begins with a 13-mile bike leg that finishes at the end of pavement on Mt. Taylor and includes an approximately 1,800 ft climb. A 5-mile run follows on gravel that transitions to packed snow, rising about 1,200 ft. The ski leg is about 2 miles and gains another 1,200 ft, including a steep section called Heartbreak Hill near the end of that segment. The final ascent to the summit is a 1-mile snowshoe that gains about 600 ft to reach an elevation of 11,301 ft. The return to town follows the reverse sequence of snowshoeing, skiing, running, and cycling. The full route accumulates roughly 4,900 ft of elevation gain and about 43 miles in total. GPS-phone tracking via the RaceJoy app is available, and checkpoints at aid stations provide progress updates. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
