Event

The "Cowboy UP" Triathlon/Duathlon takes place on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Smithville Lake Crow's Creek Park, Shelter 5, Smithville, MO 64089. The event includes individual and relay options, a virtual runner division, and both triathlon and duathlon formats. The event is established to honor and support those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

Courses and logistics

Race formats and course details:

  • Short Course Duathlon: 1.5 mile run, 11 mile bike (2 laps), 5K run
  • Short Course Triathlon: 500 meter swim, 11 mile bike (2 laps), 5K run
  • Long Course Triathlon: 1,000 meter swim, 18.8 mile bike (4 laps), 10K run

The swim start is a time trial with athletes entering the water approximately every three seconds; the swim course runs clockwise and uses minute-marker signs. The duathlon uses a shotgun start on the run path to the right of the beach. After exiting transition it is about 1.6 miles to reach Highway E; short course athletes do two bike laps and long course athletes do four. A timing box is on the bike course. Short course athletes pass two water stations on the run; long course athletes pass five. Transition procedures include body marking for all athletes. Age group and overall awards for men and women are given for both short and long courses, with the ceremony held near the finish line after the race.
