Marsh Creek Sprint Triathlon
The Marsh Creek Sprint Triathlon is held at Marsh Creek State Park in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Located west of Philadelphia near the Pennsylvania Turnpike, the event offers a variety of multisport formats. Participants can choose between the following options:
- Sprint Triathlon: 750m swim, 20k bike, and 5k run
- Sprint Aquabike: 750m swim and 20k bike
- Sprint Triathlon Relay: 750m swim, 20k bike, and 5k run (for teams of 2 or 3)
The swim portion is a single loop, rectangular course held in the 500 acre Marsh Creek Lake. It utilizes a time trial start where two athletes enter the water every few seconds. Faster swimmers may utilize an Elite Box Start to begin at the front of the field. The bike course consists of a single 20k loop on paved roads, featuring technical sections and straight stretches through forests and near trout streams.
The 5k run takes place entirely within the state park. The course includes views of the lake and a significant uphill section at the one mile mark. Registration includes a finisher medal, technical event shirt, custom socks, timed results, and a post-race meal. This event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon (USAT) and is open to participants aged 12 and older. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
