Event details
The Lakes Country Triathlon takes place on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Whipple Beach, 14441 Oakwood Dr N, Baxter, MN. The event includes an Individual Triathlon and a Team Relay. A Kids Triathlon is scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2026.
Online registration opens December 28, 2025 and closes August 27, 2026. Race day registration is allowed. Orders received after August 14, 2026 will not receive a T-shirt. Price increase dates are April 25, 2026; July 27, 2026; and August 14, 2026. Registration fees are non-refundable. Event timing is provided by Pickle Events.

- Individual Triathlon: $64.60 (includes $4.60 fee)
- Team Relay: $91.10 (includes $6.10 fee)
Proceeds from the event are used to benefit youth programs and local charities in the Brainerd Lakes Area.
Course and rules
The course begins with a swim in calm Whipple Lake, continues with a bike leg that crosses the river and goes through woods and rolling hills, and finishes with a flat run through a quiet residential area. Course distances:
- Swim: 1/4 mile
- Bike: 13.6 miles
- Run: 3.2 miles
All cyclists must follow Minnesota traffic laws. Certified hard-shelled bike helmets are required. Drafting is prohibited and will be monitored. No listening devices are allowed on the bike course and are strongly discouraged on the run course. Safety plans will follow recommendations from public health authorities as the event approaches.
