Labor Day Triathlon
The Labor Day Triathlon takes place in Bountiful, Utah, and follows a traditional triathlon format of swimming, biking, and running. The event is hosted at the South Davis Recreation Center and utilizes the surrounding roads and facilities, including the Bountiful Junior High gym for packet pickup. Participants must provide their own equipment, and helmets are mandatory for the cycling portion of the race.
The competition offers two distinct distances:
- Sprint Distance: A 350-yard pool swim, a 12-mile bike ride, and a 3.35-mile run.
- Novice Distance: A 150-yard pool swim, a 2.4-mile bike ride, and a 1.5-mile run.
Both distances begin with a serpentine swim in the lap pool. Since the cycling and running courses remain open to public traffic, all athletes are required to follow standard traffic laws, including stopping at lights and signs when necessary. The bike course involves specific mount and dismount lines located just outside the transition area. For the run, the course features right-hand turns and includes an aid station for the sprint distance offering water and electrolyte drinks.
Participants receive a technical running shirt, a finisher medal, and a custom race bib. Post-race refreshments are provided at the finish area. While the sprint distance includes various age and weight divisions for awards, the novice distance is divided into youth and adult categories with specific recognition for top youth finishers.
