Event Overview
The J-Hawk Earlybird Race Series is a multisport event held at the UW-Whitewater Williams Center Pool in Whitewater, Wisconsin. It offers a variety of race formats, including triathlon, duathlon, and aquabike events.
Events and Distances
The series features two main categories: shorter sprint-distance events and longer Olympic-distance events.
- Sprint/Shorter Races: This category includes the Super Sprint Tri (250-yard swim, 6.5-mile bike, 2-mile run), the Sprint Tri (500-yard swim, 13-mile bike, 3.1-mile run), the Sprint Aquabike (500-yard swim, 13-mile bike), and a Duathlon (2-mile run, 13-mile bike, 2-mile run). Relay options are available for the Sprint Tri.
- Olympic/Longer Races: This category includes the Olympic Tri (1000-yard swim, 26.5-mile bike, 6-mile run) and the Olympic Aquabike (1000-yard swim, 26.5-mile bike). A relay option is available for the Olympic Tri. Participation in the combined Olympic-distance events is limited to 54 racers.
Event Details
Registration for the event is online only, with no on-site registration available. A mandatory pre-race Zoom general meeting is held on the Wednesday evening of race week to review the course. Awards include finisher medals and overall and division awards for various age groups and para-athlete categories. The organizers note that awards will not be mailed.
The event is organized by the J-Hawks, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit youth organization that funds swim lessons and a youth swim team. Discount codes are offered for military personnel, veterans, police officers, healthcare workers, seniors, and students or staff of UW-Whitewater and the Whitewater School District.
