Event overview
The Gaylord All Outdoors Tri 45 Winter Triathlon takes place on March 7, 2026, at Forbush Corners, 4971 W Co Rd 612, Frederic, MI 49733. The program includes a solo division, a relay division for teams of 2 to 3 people, and a duathlon (bike then run). Published entry fees are $60 for the solo event, $150 for relay teams, and $50 for the duathlon. Organizers note the course contains hills and that it does not include the "terrible hills" from the last four races. Skate ski is included in the ski portion this year.
Race format and distances
- 5 km skate ski
- 10 km fat-tire bike ride across frosty terrain
- 5 km winter trail run through snow-packed paths
The duathlon includes only the bike and run portions.
Logistics, services, and policies
Packet pickup is scheduled for March 6, 2026; location and time are to be determined. Registration includes a custom finisher medal, a commemorative insulated water belt for the first 50 registrants, warm post-race snacks and hot beverages, timing by Forbush, and aid at the transition area with water, sports drink, and snacks. Awards are given to top overall male and female and to age-group winners in 10-year brackets; relay teams are excluded from overall awards but each relay member receives a finisher medal. The race proceeds in snow, shine, or flurries; organizers may change course distances or layout for safety. Registrations are nonrefundable and not transferable to the following year.
The event is partnered with a sister race, the Abominable Snow Tri on February 22, 2026, held in Belmont, MI; participants can register for both races for combined medal opportunities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
