Dragon Trails Triathlon
The Dragon Trails Triathlon is a sprint-distance event held in Lake Orion, Michigan. Now in its third year, the race provides an intimate environment with a participation limit of 100 athletes to manage course congestion. The event features two main categories:
- Dragon Trails Triathlon (Sprint)
- Dragon Trails Triathlon Relay (Sprint)
The multi-sport course traverses several natural areas and parks. Participants begin with a .75 km (.46 mile) open water swim in the freshwater of Tommy's Lake. This is followed by a 20 km (12.4 miles) bike leg on mixed terrain. The cycling route passes through Bald Mountain, the Polly Ann Trail, and Orion Oaks County Park. The final stage is a 5 km (3.1 miles) run conducted on the forested trails of Camp Agawam.
Each registered participant receives a swim cap, an event shirt, and a drink ticket for the post-race area known as the Dragons Lair. Nutrition is provided both as pre-run fuel options and during the course. Parking for participants and spectators is available on-site at 1301 Clarkston Road. Organizers provide training plans and course maps to assist with preparation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
