Event Overview

The Dragon Fly Triathlon & AquaBike is the 36th annual edition of this multisport event. It takes place in Sardis, Mississippi, at Cypress Point on Lower Lake Sardis.

Events and Distances

The event offers two main triathlon distances:

  • Olympic Distance: A 1500-meter swim, a 40K bike, and a 10K run.
  • Sprint Distance: A 750-meter swim, a 20K bike, and a 5K run.

In addition to individual categories for both distances, there are also Aquabike (swim and bike only) options, relay team events, and divisions for Athena/Clydesdale and Physically Challenged athletes. The event serves as the Mississippi Age Group and High School State Championship.

Course Details

The swim takes place in Sardis Lake Reservoir, featuring a sandy beach for entrance and exit. The bike course is described as very flat and travels through farmland. The run course uses pavement for two miles and includes trail sections.

Additional Information

All finishers receive a medal. Post-race refreshments include pizza, watermelon, chips, and Prairie Farms ice cream. Awards are given to overall female and male winners, age groups, and relay teams. The event has an inclement weather policy where the race may be delayed but not canceled for safety reasons. Registration on race day is available, but participants are advised to arrive early.
