Event Overview

The Dam Tri is a multi-sport event held at Lake Murray Public Park in Lexington, South Carolina. Known as a Sprinternational distance race, it provides a longer course than a standard sprint triathlon while remaining shorter than an international distance event. The competition integrates various segments of the Lake Murray Dam and is part of the South Carolina Triathlon Series. Participants can choose from several event formats including the full triathlon, a relay option, an aquabike, and an aquathlon.

Course Details

The triathlon event consists of a 1000 meter lake swim, a 21 mile bike ride, and a 6 kilometer run. The swim takes place in Lake Murray, starting alongside the dam spillway. The course follows a large triangle shape in water with temperatures typically around 73 degrees.

Following the swim, the bike portion features a two-loop course that is mostly flat to rolling. This segment crosses the dam four times, providing views from the top of the structure.
