Event Overview
The C-U Triathlon is a multi-sport competition taking place in Champaign, Illinois. The event is open to participants aged 16 and older, with separate registration categories for residents and non-residents. The race features three distinct segments:
- 400 yard swim
- 10 mile bike
- 5K run
Course Details
The triathlon begins with a swim leg, followed by a bike course on public roadways. Participants move through the transition area between each leg to access their gear stored in designated bike corrals. The bike segment utilizes country roads where cyclists may encounter loose gravel and shared traffic; consequently, road, mountain, hybrid, and gravel bikes are permitted, while fixie bikes are prohibited. The final leg is a 5K run marked with signs, cones, and chalk. Volunteers are stationed along the route to assist with direction.
Logistics and Facilities
All participants must provide an estimated swim time during registration. On-site facilities include portable toilets, as the local YMCA locker rooms remain closed to the public during the event. While the competition takes place, a pavilion area hosts inflatables, games, and food trucks. All finishers receive a medal at the finish line, and awards are presented to the first-place male and female overall. Registration for this event closes on the Saturday of race weekend.
