Booking It Through the Bluff
Booking It Through the Bluff is a multi-sport event held in Hokes Bluff, Alabama. The event serves as a benefit for the Hokes Bluff Library Foundation, with support from local community organizations. Participants can choose between a standalone road race or a multi-stage triathlon.
The available event distances include:
- 42 km Triathlon (Individual or Team)
- 10 km Run Only
The triathlon covers a total distance of 42 kilometers. The competition begins with a 5 km run through a farming community on county roads featuring shaded rolling hills. This is followed by a 4.5 km kayak leg where participants paddle downstream with the current on the Coosa River. Safety boats are positioned along the river for assistance, and all participants are required to wear life jackets. The final leg is a 32.4 km cycle through Eastern Etowah County, primarily using back roads with minimal traffic. A hydration station is located at the halfway point of the cycling segment.
The standalone 10 km run is a loop course that starts and finishes at the Hokes Bluff Community Center. The route passes through the town center and includes hydration stations along the way.
Both the 10 km and the triathlon start and end at the Hokes Bluff Community Center. The triathlon is open to participants aged 14 and older, and can be entered by individuals or teams of two or three people. All participants receive a commemorative award, and specific age group awards are provided for top finishers in both the run and the triathlon.
