About the race
Big Hurt is a four-leg, multi-sport race held in Port Angeles, Washington. Participants can compete solo in the Iron divisions or as a relay team across four legs: a 15‑mile mountain bike ride in the foothills above Port Angeles, a 2.6‑mile kayak in Port Angeles Harbor, a 30‑mile road bike out toward Freshwater Bay and along Kelly Ridge, and a 10K run on the Olympic Discovery Trail along the waterfront. A standout feature is that all transitions occur at a single waterfront hub in downtown Port Angeles, creating an all‑day party atmosphere.
The event emphasizes kayak requirements (no paddleboards) and supports local trail projects, adding a community-focused element. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
