Best in the West Triathlon Festival
The Best in the West Triathlon Festival takes place at Lewis Creek Park in Foster, Oregon. Located in the foothills of the Cascades and fed by the Santiam River, the event utilizes the recreation facilities of Foster Reservoir. The festival includes a wide variety of multisport and single-discipline events held over a weekend.
Participants swim in Foster Lake, while the cycling segments take place on low-use roads that wind through the hills and along the river. The running courses follow the wooded shoreline, providing natural shade. The event features a diverse range of distances and formats:
- Triathlon: Half-Iron, Olympic, Sprint, and Super Sprint distances.
- Specialty Triathlons: Paddle Triathlons and Aqua Bike options for various distances.
- Duathlon: Half-Iron, Olympic, Sprint, and Super Sprint formats.
- Running: 5k, 10k, and Half-Marathon races.
- Cycling: Individual bike rides of 12, 25, and 56 miles.
- Swimming: Open water swims of 500 meters, 1500 meters, and 1.2 miles.
The festival includes a Kids Splash & Dash for participants aged 16 and under. Relay teams are available for the Half-Iron, Olympic, and Sprint distances. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual race option is provided. A local campground is located nearby for participants staying through the weekend.
