Event Overview
The Atomic Multisport Event offers a variety of triathlon, duathlon, and aqua bike competitions. It takes place at the TVA Melton Hill Dam area in Lenoir City, Tennessee.
Distances and Events
The event includes several race formats:
- Individual Half Iron Triathlon
- Relay Half Iron Triathlon
- Aqua Bike Half Iron Triathlon
- Atomic Sprint Triathlon (500m swim, 18.6-mile bike, 5k run)
- Atomic Olympic Triathlon (1500m swim, 40k bike, 10k run)
- Atomic Sprint Duathlon (5k run, 18.6-mile bike, 5k run)
- Sprint and Olympic Aqua Bike events
Relay, Clydesdale (male 220+ lbs), and Athena (female 165+ lbs) divisions are available for many of the triathlon distances. The minimum age for the Sprint Triathlon is 13, while other events have a minimum age of 14.
Course and Logistics
The swim course is a two-loop rectangle in the water near the dam, with an expected water temperature of approximately 73°F. The run course has been modified to stay around the dam area. Half Iron participants complete two loops of the run course. The bike courses are noted as being modified from previous years. Parking is in lower lots below the dam, requiring a walk uphill to the transition area. An on-site campground is available across the road from the transition area.
Additional Information
Registration remains open on race morning. Packet pickup requires a picture ID and is available the evening before and on race morning. Relay teams must pick up their packets together. A USA Triathlon one-day license or annual membership is required for participation in triathlon events. The event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon.
